Susan Sarandon Bio

It was after the 1968 Democratic convention and there was a casting notice for a film that had several parts for young individuals who disrupted the convention. Two recent graduates from Catholic University in Washington DC were invited to audition in New York for Joe (1970). Chris Sarandon, who had trained to become an actor, was turned over. His wife Susan was offered the role as Susan Compton. She is the daughter of Bill Compton (Dennis Patrick). Dad Bill kills Susan’s drug dealer boyfriend. Next, Joe (Peter Boyle) is a bigot who works on an assembly line and collects guns, meets Susan. Five years later, Sarandon plays the role in the movie. Janet is a transvestite who gets involved with the mysterious Dr. Frank n Furter (1975). Over 15 years after making her debut, Sarandon finally fought for a starring role in the film Annie in Bull Durham (1988), traveling at her own expense from Rome to Los Angeles. "It had such a great script... It was able to do dispel a lot of myths, and challenged the American definition of success," she stated. "I was there for a while with Kevin Costner, sex some males in the studio and then got back on the plane. Her relationship with Bull Durham (1988)) acting partner, Tim Robbins, had produced two sons by 1992. This put Sarandon in the awkward position of leaving her domestic paradise only to accept roles that truly challenged her. Four Academy Award nominations were received in the 1990s. The best actress award was presented for Dead Man Walking (1995) was also awarded. Louis Malle's Atlantic City (1980) was her first Academy Award nomination.
